Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke don't claim to teach the audience any lesson, they don't embrace shock as an agent of attention, nor provocations of the audiences privacy. The artistwin deufert &plischke operates with personal fragments and decelerated ascetic choreography, and they are doing this in endless distance to the viewers, thus unlimited intimacy can emerge.
Their aim is not to engage in op-position to the themes of daily politics, but rather to emphasize the political explosiveness of being-together, of ones own sexuality and of love, paradoxically by self-withdrawal from the field of the political. Maybe one could describe Reportable Portraits with the words of Krassimira Kruschkova as an "staging of the potential". Because it is such, according to Kruschkova, that interrupts totalitarian thinking about collectivity. (Martina Ruhsam)
